Underground Storage Tank Closure Services

As a Class I UST Rehabilitation Contractor (UCC-0488), Evans Environmental Consulting provides underground storage tank (UST) and aboveground storage tank (AST) closure services and assessment services. Whether the tank system is regulated by the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) or is an unregulated system, such as a heating oil tank, we are here to help. We provide turnkey service, including SCDES notifications (for regulated tanks), removal (or closure-in-place), proper disposal of the tank, piping, and contents, and backfilling.

We also provide closure assessments which are required for regulated tanks and recommended for unregulated tanks. Among other things, closure assessments involve the collection of samples for laboratory analysis and help to determine if there has been a release from the UST or AST system. Our closure assessments are conducted according to the SCDES Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) for the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Management Division (rev 4.0) and our field personnel are Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) trained.
