Our Work

Thank you for your interest in working with Evans Environmental Consulting. Below are some of the projects
completed by Evans Environmental Consulting personnel.

Assisted a local municipality in redeveloping a property impacted by an adjoining former dry cleaner.

Conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA). Based on the results of the Phase I ESA, helped the client enter into a Voluntary Cleanup Contract (VCC) with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). As part of the VCC, conducted a soil gas assessment to determine that vapor intrusion from the dry cleaner release would not impact the planned redevelopment.

Completed Phase I ESAs of historic properties in Berkeley County, SC and Savannah, Georgia

The South Carolina property consisted of 439 individual parcels on approximately 276 acres. The property in Savannah included an antebellum building that had been developed since 1832

Conducted multiple assessments at a SCDES-regulated underground storage tank (UST) facility adjacent to the Ashley River.

Following a petroleum release from the USTs, the SCDES directed that multiple assessments be conducted, including Tier I and Tier II Assessments, followed by multiple groundwater monitoring events.

Conducted a Phase I and Phase II ESA of a 9.5-mile section of an existing highway as part of a South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) widening project.

The subject property included commercial, residential, and rural areas with environmental concerns ranging from past agricultural uses to modern-day dry cleaners and retail petroleum stations.

Conducted a Phase I ESA on a large commercial property formerly used as a port, fertilizer manufacturing and storage plant, and seafood processing facility.

The historical review included multiple analytical reports concerning previous soil and groundwater sampling events as well as droves of data accumulated during almost fifty years of port operation. Helped the client enter the site into the SCDES Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP).

Completed a Phase I ESA on a 761-acre property adjacent to a chemical plant.

Based upon the findings of the Phase I ESA and the planned future use of the property, the client entered into a VCC with the SCDES. Conducted an extensive assessment of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment according to the VCC requirements over the entire property.

Completed an extensive environmental assessment of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment as part of a VCC with the SCDES at an industrial site.

Groundwater data indicated a potential vapor intrusion issue which subsequent soil gas sampling results confirmed.

Coordinated soil and groundwater assessments under the SCDES VCP as part of the client’s acquisition of approximately 45 miles of existing railroad right-of-way.

The assessed areas bordered industrial facilities and petroleum storage sites.

Conducted numerous assessments following a release from a heating oil tank at a local elementary school in an effort to define the extent of groundwater contamination.

Coordinated multiple aggressive fluid vapor recovery (AFVR) events in an effort to remove free-phase petroleum product (free product) from the subsurface. Worked closely with the school district and the SCDES to develop a surfactant injection pilot study. With the success of the pilot study, continued to utilize surfactant injections to remove free product.
